Mr Denas Hansjee
Non-Executive Director
Mr. Hansjee is the Chairman of the Board of Directors. He has over 35 years of varied experience in both the private and public sector environments. He established and is the founding partner of an auditing and accounting practice that is now part of the largest Black Auditing & Advisory firm in South Africa. He has provided accounting, tax, IT consulting, advisory and audit services to numerous small and medium sized entities in the private sector.
Mr Jonathan Bagg
Non-Executive Director
Mr Bagg is the Chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee. He is a qualified Actuary and currently serves on numerous boards. His industry knowledge is extensive and his experience in the cell captive world is significant.
Mr Badian Maasdorp
Non-Executive Director
Mr Maasdorp is currently a Chairman of the Investment Committee and is currently a member of other boards within South Africa. He is an admitted attorney and has been practicing for many years. He has experience ranging from private equity deal structuring, banking, finance and corporate governance to name a few.
Ms Ayanda Sisulu
Non-Executive Director
Ms Sisulu is a Chairperson of the Nominations and Remunerations Committee and Committee member of various Sub-Committees within Yard Insurance. She has vast experience in investment-banking and has worked on various transactions in African countries.
Mr Farad Kajee
Executive Director
Mr Kajee is the Chief Executive Officer of Yard Insurance. He has worked in investment banking and is an accomplished finance and insurance professional with experience in Mergers and Acquisitions, Underwriting, Claims and Administration.
Ms Fahdia Bhayat
Non-Executive Director
Ms Bhayat is a Committee Member in various Sub-Committees of Yard Insurance. As a lawyer, she has extensive experience in contractual disputes, insolvency, property related disputes, product liability and insurance litigation. She has served as a Director at various reputable firms, thus has a broad experience base.

Farad Kajee
Chief Executive Officer
Farad has spent the last 20 years in financial services. He has come from an investment banking background with extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions of insurance companies. Farad was appointed as CEO in 2019. He has managed insurance businesses from ground up in all aspect from reinsurance, underwriting , claims and financial management. Understanding risk and structuring of insurance transactions is his expertise.
Farai Sibanda
Chief Risk Officer
A well-established holder of a Bachelor of Laws Honours and Regulatory Exams 5 with over 10 years experience successfully managing and advising on legal and risk fields in a different countries and business environments. She is a highly motivated individual with a pro-active approach and vast experience in Risk and Compliance to name a few.
She is dynamic and assertive with a phenomenal ability to produce excellent results. Farai has established a positive track record as a qualified attorney with extensive experience in legal compliance, risk management, contracts and policies. She aims to maximise her expertise by continuing to add value to Yard.
Stephen Lewin
Head of Reinsurance
Stephen heads up the Reinsurance unit of Yard Insurance. He has over 39 years’ experience in the Industry, covering all areas from Underwriting, Claims and Technical within the Reinsurance Unit. Having worked at various Reinsurers and Reinsurance Brokers at Management level on the African Continent, Steve is an expert in structuring the Reinsurance Programs that is required for all the various cells and passing on his knowledge and helping wherever he can.
Andrew Stockton
Head of Business Development
Andrew heads up Business Development for Yard Insurance and has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He has worked in finance, auditing, underwriting and risk management. Andrew comes with a wealth of experience and excels in structuring creative insurance solutions for large corporates, underwriting managers and affinity products.
Berenice Greaver
Head of Portfolio Management
Berenice heads up Portfolio Management and has been in insurance for over 25 years. Her skills include underwriting , claims and compliance. She has a post graduate qualification in compliance. She has worked at various insurance companies and was Portfolio Manager at Guardrisk for UMA’s, Binders and Volume and Affinity Businesses. She understands the cell captive environment intimately and is responsible for the profitable management of all Yard Insurance portfolios.
